Description
An open stainless frame with a full-width grate that flips on its axis,
and a charcoal tray that raises and lowers underneath it. Two moving parts, both of them
the ones that matter.
The flip frame
The grate is hinged so the whole surface turns in one motion. Everything on it changes
face at once, which is a different proposition to working across a static grate with tongs
turning items individually while the pieces you have not reached keep cooking on one side.
For anything laid out in a row, chops, sausages, chicken pieces, whole fish, butterflied
lamb, it means the batch stays together instead of drifting apart in doneness.
Adjustable charcoal height
The tray moves up and down independently. Close for a fast sear, low for anything that
needs to cook through without the outside going first. This is the control that most cheap
charcoal grills leave out, and its absence is why so much charcoal cooking ends up burnt
outside and raw inside.
Open frame
The sides are open, so air moves freely through the coals and they stay bright. It also
makes the grill easy to reach into from any side and simple to clean out. The trade is
exposure: in real wind, an enclosed body holds temperature better, and that is the F2.
